Spiritual Audit - Quick Checklist

Just like we take our car in to get serviced frequently, our spiritual lives are in need of regular maintenance.  We need to be “serviced” and checked out to make sure we are in good running order.

For some people, they have never once taken time to examine themselves and see what the condition of their life is like.  Other Christians have not done so for a long time.  Here I have prepared a Spiritual Audit Checklist for anyone to complete.  This checklist will take about ten minutes but will give you a quick overview of the condition of your “engine.”  (your heart)

Once you have completed the quick checklist it is then up to you how far you go after this point.  I suggest the following

  1. Go down the list again and at each place you have checked be specific and write down every time you have sinned as far as you can remember.

  2. Take time to specifically confess each sin to the Lord.  Do not be general by saying “God I confess all my sins.”  No, instead be specific confessing the sins one by one, just how you committed them

  3. Then take time to specifically to ask for forgiveness for your sins

  4. In prayer, and in faith, receive forgiveness and ask the Lord to guide your steps into His perfect will

  5. Finally, stop and meditate and listen to what God is saying.  When you hear something, obey it.

Throughout this whole process, your heart will be drawn closer and closer to Christ and you will find strangely that you feel more in love with God than you have for a very long time.

James says “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”
